WaterSums 1.1 Beta 3 Released

Another Beta version of WaterSums 1.1 has been released, fixing some more of the outstanding problems with the first Beta release. WaterSums 1.1 Beta 3 now correctly runs the network analysis on Windows Vista 32-bit and 64-bit versions as well as displaying variations in tank levels during simulations.

Please download and test the latest beta today and give any feedback you have.

Delay in release of WaterSums 1.1

We plan to digitally sign the official release of WaterSums 1.1, but unfortunately there has been a delay in the issuing of the digital certificate. WaterSums 1.1 will be released as soon as possible after this has been finalised.

The main benefit to those who have not yet taken advantage of our amazing "$15 for 15 days" offer is that the offer will be extended until the release of WaterSums 1.1. Yes, pre-ordering WaterSums 1.1 means you get WaterSums 1.1 for only $15 and with it all the updates until the release of version 1.2.

WaterSums 1.1 Beta 2 Released

After a very busy week, the second Beta of WaterSums 1.1 has been released today. The new release includes some new functionality and quite a few bug fixes. Thanks to all who gave feedback on the first Beta and that submitted log files - they all help a lot with reviewing use of the program and designing improvements.

Due to some changes made in the Beta, WaterSums now requires .Net 2.0 Service Pack 1 or an error will be displayed when performing the analysis.

The new features are detailed in the main Beta page here, but a few are worth noting in particular:

WaterSums 1.1 Beta released

Released more or less on time, the first Beta release of WaterSums 1.1 is now available for download. All licensed users of WaterSums can download and install the new version which can be installed side by side with any release of WaterSums version 1.0. The download is also available to members of this site, so if you aren't registered with the site, do so now. To download the Beta release or to read more about it, see here.

WaterSums 1.1 Beta release soon

A Beta release of WaterSums 1.1 is planned for Friday, 12 June 2009 (DV). This new release will include support for using Microsoft Silverlight 2.0 to display network maps. The Adobe SVG Viewer will still be supported, but much of the new functionality will only be available in the Silverlight display engine which will be the new default. A few of the extra features available include symbols for valves and pumps, cursor changes when over network objects, level indication for tanks and better view control (including pan and zoom).

The release will be available to all licensed WaterSums users and all registered users of this web site.

Initial Silverlight screenshots

In previous releases, WaterSums has used the Adobe SVG Viewer embedded in a web browser to display network maps. With the ongoing development of Silverlight, we decided it was time to try using Silverlight to display these maps.

Progress with Silverlight

Development of the Silverlight version of WaterSums continues and is showing promising results. Zooming with the mousewheel and panning by drag and drop are almost there. Tanks can now show their level varying to help with visualisation during a simulation. There is still much to be done, but initial results are encouraging. We hope that some screenshots will be able to be included next week.

Silverlight developments

WaterSums development was slowed recently because the lead developer was on assignment in Sri Lanka and India for three months from the middle of November. During this time, little development took place, but now that he is back, development is also back in full swing.

One of new advancements in WaterSums is a module which displays network maps using the Microsoft Silverlight plugin. This should be ready for a beta testing release in a few weeks time. If you would like to be included in the beta testing, please use the contact form to ask.

New support forum launched

A new trial forum has been launched to allow the discussion of any problems or difficulties with the WaterSums software. The forum will be monitored and there will be developer input where necessary. Of course, you can still make any enquiries through the Contact form and we will do our best to respond promptly! You will need to have a WaterSums account to post in the forum. This can be created with the "Create new account link" on the left (or here). If you have any difficulties, let us know through the Contact form.

When posting to the forum, please cooperate with our request that any forum postings do not include any swearing or abuse.

WaterSum 1.0.13 - "Free Trial" analysis patch

Hot on the heels of version 1.0.12 comes 1.0.13. This release includes a fix to a reported problem where the analysis function did not work in "Free Trial" mode. While many other software packages offer free trial with limited functionality, WaterSums provides a free trial with full functionality - except when we make embarrassing mistakes like this one! At WaterSums, we pride ourselves on being responsive in fixing problems, so if you come across a problem with your WaterSums software, please report it through the contact form.
